Cafeteria Catholics are baptized Catholics who conscientiously disagree with one or more of the teachings of the bishops of the Church; who, in good conscience, may choose to ignore clerical mandates that are based on those teachings; and who continue to practice their Christian faith within the Catholic Church.

We're not trying to reform the Church. We know that's impossible, given the absolute control by the Catholic monarchy. We just want to practice our Catholic faith without insults, or intimidation, or being told to find another church.

“I was baptized & just before confirmation, I thought about leaving. After researching, I realized that I disagree less with other faiths than I do with catholicism. I think my views are closer to Orthodox (though I was raised & still remain Roman).”

“I was raised Catholic, but don't quite agree with everything about Catholicism. I am still very spiritual, and still hold true to many of the values taught by Catholicism.”

“I was baptized as a Catholic since birth. I went to a Catholic grade school and high school in St.Louis. I don't currently attend mass because it is too rigid and usually doesn't apply to me. I am spiritual person, just not religious.”
